First the good news - my wife and I just drove 440 miles in two days on a tour
of central Washington wineries with the Tyee Triumph Club of Seattle - by far
our longest trip yet (and 32 mpg!)
The bad news - near the end of the trip, the ignition light came on. It was a
steady glow and did not change with RPM. The alternator was rebuilt less than
a month ago. I checked the belt when I got home and it appeared to be fine.
Next I dropped a nearly new battery that I had in the car. The light glowed
for a minute, then when out. Problem solved - I thought. Today the light has
been turning off and on (no dimming, just off or on.) It seems mostly to come
on when I stop hard and then go out if I accelerate or turn hard. Also - when
the light is on the engine seems to accelerate roughly .
It sounds like a short to me. Could some kind of short cause this, and if so,
what kind??? I've read the BB and Dan Master's articles and still am not sure
where to start.
Ideas????
