rebuilding trunnions

I rebuilt the trunions last night and am concerned about how tightly the
poly bushings fit.  I literally had to drive them into the trunion with
a hammer. On the left side, I also had to drive the sleeve into the
inserted poly bushing with a hammer.


I think that the poly bushing and the sleevedo fit tight as does the
steel sleeve in the poly bushing. The movement would be between the bolt
and the steel sleeve as there would be no way to prevent it. I put some
antiseize on mine when I put the bolt through the sleeve as they will
rust up if the car sits for any time as many have probably experienced
when they started a rebuild.

I pressed mine in place using a vice. If you haven't replaced the
trunions, then the one that fit easily may be worn. When I did the rear
ones, they were also tight.
