This effect is achieved in a three layer process, the gold being the ground
coat, the mid coat being tinted with red pigment dye and the final coat being
clear coat.
Commonly used on motor cytcles and smaller components. The only draweback
with this process is color matching, as it is difficult to establish how many
of the tinted process is over the ground coat. The more midcoat that is
applied the deeper the color appears, as the coverage is greater over the
groundcoat. MOtor manufacturers are starting to use this prcess to achieve
different color and improved sales. Ford have laser tint red and Chrysler
Inferno red.
Hope this helps your query
