It has its own hole. Here's a side view of the firewall:

The choke cable comes out horizontally through Hole X (directly
underneath the driver's side screen washer nozzle), and the speedo cable
comes out, as you know, vertically through Hole Y - or at least, that's
the way it works on Carly ('77 1500).
