Everyone,
I'm having a problem with a manual choke ZS CD-150 that I want
to put on my 1980 Spitfire. The carb has been rebuilt and works fine
for a while after I strap it on the car. Then it won't go over 2000 rpm
under load without cutting out and stalling. The car will restart but
the problem continues. If I let the car sit it will start up and run
fine for a time and then the problem repeats. The engine no longer has
any emissions equipment. The ignition components, dizzy, timing are all
fine and work well with the Weber I'm running right now.
I'm thinking it could be vapor lock but I think it did occur when I had
a heat shield attached a while ago. Does anyone have any ideas about
what some other causes might be for the problem?
Other Details
BIDL Needle (I also have a 45P) happened with both, carb rebuilt (new
gaskets, diaphragm, etc.) Blanked off the by-pass valve to see if it
was the cause, no change.
Thanks for any and all ideas,
Sean
