Dear All,
Yesterday I finally removed the Ford Cortina washer bottle/pump from
Carly, and fitted the correct bottle and pump. All is working fine,
and there's a lot more room in there now. Unfortunately, the fasteners
to hold the pump bracket to the car are missing, and I need some advice.
According to the Rimmer catalogue, there is some sort of peculiar-
looking nut ("AFU1233 Well Nut No Longer Available") into which each
bolt screws, but I cannot see how one might easily gain access to fit
it. What is a "Well Nut"? Is this supposed to be a captive nut,
welded onto the underside of the deck? If so, I think I'll go with a
cable tie...
The washer bottle sits happily in its clip, but directly onto the steel
bulkhead, with no drainage holes to be seen. The area under the bottle
must be a great place for water to gather, and indeed there are signs
that it has done so in the past. Has anyone any bright ideas about
preventing this from happening? I am thinking of trying to find a
small plastic tray to go under the bottle. Is this a good idea, or a
futile waste of time?
ATB
