Fred ,that's really interesting because it has been
my understanding all along that this needs done.
I'll be honest and say that I didn't change to DOT5
all I did was flush the old fluid from the lines. I
then refilled with DOT4. I did change to DOT5 on
the clutch system but it was totally rebuilt with a
new MC and slave

Dave, I'm 9 years and never changed any rubber at
all, just used silicone
fluid to flush out the old and bring in the new, I
know many people that
have done nothing except flush the systems, maybe
the old untreated rubber
this might occur, I do not believe todays rubber
will dissolve, I have some
soaking on my bench for 6 months with both fluids
in the same jar and one
jar with nothing but DoT 5 on old seals, still
nothing happening in either
jar, now if your seals are 20 years old (which I
doubt) you might encounter
