List,
I have a disturbing noise coming from the rear end of my 78 Spit. It is not
the notorious clonk from the diff. It only occurs when I let off of the
accelerator and am coasting. Nothing when hitting the gas. It seems to be
coming from the passenger side. I have pulled of the drive shaft and will
replace the u-joint tomorrow. The diff has a little play in it but I assume
that is normal and if it was the diff it would happen when accelerating. Let
me know if you have a suggestion of what to look at/for. I let you know how
replacing the u-joint goes.
