Making the points gap larger is the same as advancing the timing, to a point
(pun intended). With the larger gap the points open sooner, triggering the
spark earlier. Or is it the other way, I don't remember if the spark
triggers from the points opening or closing. Anyway, anytime you do a
tune-up you should set the points before you set the timing.
