I have a replacement header to fit to my Spitfire, just the ordinary 4-1
version to replace the cracked one on there now. Originally, the center
pipe was just held to the header with a clamp. This was marginally OK, it
tended to leak a bit and was a struggle to get apart for rearend work.
When I had a new exhaust system made up last year, the shop did a great job
except they WELDED the center pipe to the old header - not good - can't
remove the exhaust easily.
So now with the nice new header to go in, I want to do something better. I
am thinking a bolt together flange to join the header and center pipe would
be a nice way to go. Anyone out there done it before? Any suggestions for
where to find such a beast? That way I could easily take the exhaust on and
off as maintenance needs require.
