Oil filter adapter

I tried to replace the filter on my 76 spitfire and found that the adapter
on the small diameter off-brand oil filter was too small to fit into the
Purelator filter I purchased from advanced auto for the engine.  The gasket
mates properly with the block but the adapter needs to be one size larger.
Does anyone have one of these adapters or know where I can purchase one?
