Non-LBC Oil Question

Here's the situation.

I purchased in July 2000, a new Nissan Altima SE. Came with standard
Petroleum Based Oil in the engine. I changed it at 1750 miles, then again at
3200 miles, I am coming up on 6000 miles and want to start using synthetic
oil, so the car lasts "forever" Is it too soon to switch? Will this cause
oil leaks or are the oil seal seated well enough by now?
