Hello all,
Just out for a spin and stopped by my local gas station to fill up Mrs.
Jones with super unleaded. I noticed a white, '79 Spitfire 1500 for sale
and took a closer look. It has the original dealer three stripe thing
across the side and the body looks to be in very solid, straight and nice
condition. Paint might be original.
The engine compartment is a little grungy with a bit of surface rust on the
shelf where the brake and or clutch M/C let loose with that wonderful DOT 4
fluid sometime back.
Interior is in fairly good shape from what I could see through the window
and it's a 4-speed. No O/D. Sign on the windshield said owner will take
anything over $3,500 for the car. The wood dash looked like it was in
pretty good shape.
The only evidence of rust that I could see (it was getting dark, though) was
along the lower lip of the rockers. The rockers themselves looked good and
the rocker caps were solid, too. Top seemed to be in good condition. The
car has some nice aftermarket wheels and fatter than normal tires.
If anyone wants more information, let me know. I might be able to swing by
and take some digital photos if anyone is seriously interested.
Best wishes,
Jeff in San Diego
