Dave,
    I talked to the mechanic that worked on Bill Shanahan's ADU Spitfire that
ran the Monterey Historics three years ago and he said they were running a
4-speed TR7 box which is what I run in my vintage race Spitfire with great
success. You don't have to modify the frame with this box but you do have to
modify either the clutch or the input shaft of the tranny.
