My Spit MkIV (black dash) has an oil pressure gauge and ammeter as
additional gauges.

The oil pressure gauge replaces the light switch which is moved to a new
hole to the right of the rev counter. The gauge is supported by a bracket
that picks up on the mounting clamp screws of the fuel gauge and the
water temp gauge. This allows the bezel of the pressure gauge to project
out of the dash by the same amount as the other two gauges.

The ammeter is mounted in front of the passenger (RHD UK car) where there
is a gauge size hole in the metal backing. Again supported by a bracket
made from FR4 which is glued to the back of the plastic dash and allows
the matching amount of bezel projection.

There is also a Smiths clock which mounts on a 1/8'' thick aluminium plate
covering
the hole where the radio was mounted (no audio system in this car). This
plate is
sprayed black and mounts by the two large screws that mount the dash to the
aluminium gearbox bracket. This plate also holds a master switch, cooling fan
override switch and recently the light switch was moved there and a hazard
warning switch replaces the switch adjacent to the rev counter.

Hope that all makes sense. It is quite a lot of work but the finished result
looks OK and a number of people have asked when the factory produced
this version.

An additional point about oil pressure gauges. I use braided Goodrich
hose for the connection on mechanical gauges as the plastic hose
supplied with the gauges can age harden and fracture. It then makes
quite a mess.
