Question,
How much play is acceptable in a Spitfire differential? On my old very
noisy one there was a good 15-20 degrees of play when you turned the input
flange with the output flanges held. My "new" from my parts car has less,
but not a lot less. It is very quiet though. Both of them made a pretty
good "clank" when the clutch is released sharply in first or reverse.
U-joints are good, as are the diff mounts.
Trying to track down a new and worrisome noise... I think it may be a
radius arm. Sharp clank distinctly from the driver's side...
