Reid,
I guess I must just be living right. When I bought my car, I was getting
about 21-22 MPG with mixed driving and thought it was atrocious, given that
the dual SU specs listed 35 MPG (under best case, totally tuned conditions,
of course). My Weber was obviously running too rich, because it was spewing
black debris all over the rear valance of my Spitfire. I leaned out the
mixture considerably and increased the idle adjustment and now I'm getting
28 MPH city/highway average. I guess I'll just count my blessings and call
it beginners luck. Then again, valves have all been recently adjusted, new
wires, plugs, points, cap, rotor, etc.
Best wishes,
Jeff in San Diego
