Howdy all.
For some time, I've tried to come up with a way to acquire or make a gasket
to go between the tail light body and the car. I tried the big three
several years ago and couldn't find anyone who carried a replacement gasket.
I even considered making one using black RTV or cutting it from a sheet of
rubber. Maybe someone has the gasket on the market now but if not, here's
an alternative that I think works pretty good.
I got my Spit back from the painter this week and started putting the bits
back on it when I recalled having some left over rubber trim that goes
between the over riders and the bumper. This stuff has a U-shaped channel
to it and is easily cut to fit. Unless you look from below the fixture
where the ends meet, it looks 100% original and seems to seal much better
than the rotten junk that was on there.
Thought you'd like to know.
