Don't apologize-you are exactly right!
The American people (in general) have become a bunch of sheep! Most of us don't
even exercise the right to vote-which our forefathers fought so hard for-and
some of our forefathers -and mothers had to keep on fighting for even after the
founding of the country.
(Wasn't it Jefferson who held that the American people had a sheeplike quality?)
The founding fathers of this country were politically active men who found the
time in their busy lives (and in a time when communications and travel were
slow-almost painfully so!) to be politically active. I think that the form of
government and the constitution reflect this activism-and that they expected
the citizens to take more of a role in their goverment-other than to obey
traffic laws and pay taxes. We've really let them down.
Now it's my turn to get off the soap box (see what you started, Brad!)
