Tony,

According to my Haynes Manual, the Stromberg 150 CD carburetor used on my
Mk2 GT6 does have a mixture adjusting screw underneath. Mine and the one
illustrated in the manual have a slot to insert a coin or large screwdriver
to turn for mixture adjustment.

The Stromberg CDSE emission-controlled carb on the Mk3 illustrated in the
Haynes Manual does have a plug where the 150 CD carb has a mixture screw.
The manual indicates that the emission-controlled carb requires the special
tool you described.
