I've developed a knocking sound coming from the transmission tunnel of
my 1974 Spitfire. It only occurs if I'm turning left or veering left.
It gets more constant with the harshness of the turn. If I apply hand
pressure to the tunnel from the location of the handbrake grip,
roughly, the sound grows louder. I looked at the bottom of the car. Is
the noise due to the varous cardboard pieces detiorating? What little
I could see looked ok. Or is it something else? Is there a solution to
this? I had a similar problem with my 1978 Spit about 12 years ago.
