I have one of the VB fiberglass boxes.  It is fairly thick fiberglass and it
will withstand the full weight of the battery.  It does fit down inside the
original battery box and you can use it that way but it sticks up higher
unless the base of the original is no longer there (rusted through).  I
never installed mine because the original box was in really good shape once
I cleaned all the crud out of it.

VB sells two battery boxes: One appears to be metal and looks like it's
to be welded in as a replacement for a rusted one (about $25); the other
is fiberglass (about $50).

Is the FG one small enough to fit inside the stock metal box (or is it a
replacement for the stock one)?  Can it carry the weight of a battery by
itself, or is it just used to catch spilled acid?
