I thought I'd take a minute and a few bytes to let you know that I found
that during my efforts to hoist the engine, I had moved the transmission/od
forward enough that it was no longer rested in what I could only describe as
a 'saddle' that it rests in on the crossmember that is roughly under the
stick. I put a floor jack under it just forward of that spot and the whole
thing slipped back into place... whew!
thanks for your response.. this job certainly has been advanced training for
my career as a 1980 red spitfire mechanic
