SU carb detail

Hi, List.

Quick question about SU H2 carbs -- are the air filter mounting
flanges all supposed to be tapped?  Please note this is for H2, not
HS2; all the HS2 carbs I knew had tapped ears, I just want to know if
I should score some Helicoils and rebuild this aspect of these
breathing apparati.  Andy?  Anybody?
