I don't think that is the case. In my 63 I always hit the second button
until I rebushed the shifter now it just comes with in about a half inch of
the button.

Must have something to do with the inner measurements of your newer Spit
versus my older one. My 3-rail gearbox doesn't interfere with my radio
buttons at all!
