Oh brother. Ask a silly question!! As I was motoring down to the Triumph
Club meeting last night, two thoughts ocurred to me. The first is that a
small bit of vibration is something I can live with (whooo-hoooo!) and is
probably inherent in these cars -- maybe that's why I didn't get a straight
answer to my question! The other thought was that I'm sure looking forward
to installing an O/D transmission into this car to make freeway cruising
less taxing on the engine and more enjoyable.
Question: As far as O/D is concerned, it really doesn't matter where I
choose to wire the switch, does it? The O/D I'm buying has the switch in
the gearshift knob, which is probably where I'll leave it. Otherwise, I'd
like the option of running the switch to the steering column, where it would
have been originally fitted by the factory.
While I like the convenience factor of having it in the gearshift knob, I
sort of like the idea of having the O/D control appear "stock" from the
outside. Especially after hearing that you can get ZAPPED by the gearshift
lever on later model O/D transmissions! Opinions welcome. Oh, and how
difficult is it going to be for me to find an early style O/D switch and
cowl for the stalk to begin with?
