One of the most unimpresseve engines I owned was a 2.3L (1980 MustOx,
if you must know). Ran cold, even with a hot t'stat and no fan; had
insufficient torque and power to get out of it's own way; weighed
about 650 lbs; noisy; sluggish; consumed fuel at an impressive rate; I
never understood how such a simple machine could be so bad. It might
have been the year, of course; '80 was not a good one for American
production ability. Of course, I couldn't get rid of the car. Keys
in the ignition in a bad neighbourhood -- still there when I
returned. Bad road conditions -- no one would hit it. Didn't have
enough go to get into trouble at speed; barely made 65 mph at a time
when 55 was the rule. Gawd, I hated that car and its engine.
