We had a problem throwing belts on our Spit race car.
I considered a belt monitor:
An idler wheel is spring loaded against the belt,
actuating a switch if the belt is missing.
It turned out we had a problem with the generator
pulley alignment, and so I never pursued this. But it
would have worked.
