Check the Throttle linkages again and ensure they are working perfectly. I
wold go ahead and get the spring for the pedal return. Another possible
option is that your pedal is rusted somehow at its joint and that is causing
it to hang up. Try lubricating that. Given all others I would have someone
depress the accelerator while you are working on it and see if you can
notice a lack of movement, or sudden slack in the cable (designating that
something else is not moving)

The cable moves very freely..
The only thought I have is wether some other carburetter problem might cause
this...
Do you have any idea what the effect of a jammed carb piston would be?
