Re-spoking wire wheels - haven't got any experience of wires myself, but
there are words that seem wise in the Moss Spitfire catalogue. Their
point is that wire wheels can be re-spoked, but by the time you've done
it, shot-blasted them, stove enammelled them, and balanced them etc. you
have spent as much money as buying new wheels. They then go into a
piece about how having dodgy wire wheels is a REALLY BAD IDEA, since
they are designed to flex (by up to 4" on hard cornering), not something
you would want to consider doing with wheels you had any doubts about.
Of course, Moss' main aim is no doubt to sell you some shiny new wire
wheels, so you may have to take what they say with a little pinch of
salt. Still, probably worth trying to price up the full job and
comparing with the cost of new before you go ahead.
