Jeff:
I too have received scratched and suspect looking "New" parts. My thought
is that parts are often returned when a buyer finds a better deal or has
ordered the wrong one. Boxes are opened, the parts handled, test fitted,
etc. It's probably a good, new unit. It all depends on the quality of the
look you want after installation.
You would think that big companies who deal in restoration parts would want
to send you truly new and cosmetically perfect pieces.
---You can probably find a woodruff key at your local hardware or auto parts
store. You definitely need it.
I enjoy your site Jeff. I'm also restoring a '73 Spit and have encountered
many of the challenges you're finding.
Good luck with your project.
Best regards,
