Hi Alan
With respect to the overdrive relay for the J type O/D to the best of my
knowledge their isn't one, at least not on all the British cars I have owned
or maintained that have O/D. The relay was fitted due to the large current
drawn by the A type solenoid, the J type on the other hand consumes
significantly less current as it has a throw winding and a hold winding. the
throw current is low (5A)* and short duration and the hold current is lower
still. The relay was omitted from the circuit as the switch was considered
not to be at risk of damage. If you however wish to protect your switch
further you could fit the relay, the wiring diagram for the A type system
should be adequate.
*The (5A) is what I seem to have heard somewhere and may not be accurate,
the reason is correct.
Sorry no idea about seatbelt interlock or what it is please enlighten me
somebody. Oooh sudden craving for knowledge.
Graham

schematics, but they both refer to the relay mounted on the firewall next to
the horn relay, even to the point of having pictures. Am I missing something
here?
