I haven't replaced the windscreen in the spitfire, but I did replace the
windscreen and rear windows in my '50 Ford truck, and it's the same type of
seal.
I went in much easier than I thought. The main points to keep in mind is 1)
You MUST have 2 people" (one to apply pressure, the other to draw the cord
from the gasket. Anyone over the age of 14 and having atleast one hand free
should do) 2) removing your steering wheel is helpful but not mandatory
3) Use a liquid soap to lubricate the edge of the seal before you attempt
to install it.
And since I have the opportunity, I'd like to publicly thank my 65 year old
mother for being my extra set of hands on that installation.
I was more afraid of shelling out the estimated $150 to the glass place
than I was of installing the windshield glasses.
