October issue of Esquire Magazine lists the Spitfire as one of the "Maybe"
sound investments in classic cars. It
implies that one day the Spitfire will be a true collectors item.
The paragraph w/ a picture of a Mk2 Spitfire reads:
"Long overshadowed by the TR series,Triumph's entry-level Spitfire is
finally having its moment, in part because
its simple engine is so easy to repair. Andy Mace, president of the Vintage
Triumph Register, points out what might
be its greatest allure, however; ' A Spitfire is like a pair of comfy old
shoes. You don't drive a car like this--you wear
it.' Spitfires, made from 1963 to 1980, can be had in your size for as
little as $3,000. Bonus trivia: The spoon-
bending Uri Geller drove one."
