Hi All,
Well, I finally got my windshield installed and my rear end noise
figured out. I ended up having a friend install the windshield as he had
done these before. Even so, it wasn't easy!
And as many of you suggested, the u-joints were causing all the rattling
in the rear end. Obviously, after market parts aren't always an exact
replacement. The axle u-joints didn't fit tightly enough, allowing the
center of the joint to "chuck". I made some thin shims out of tin, and
put them under the circlips to quiet things down. I would have spent a
long time locating this problem without the help of the list!
Anyway, I've had a great week driving the car. I forgot how much fun it
is to just cruise with the top down. I sure hope winter is real late
this year!
