you've got a large compression ratio.  not sure what it is, but
it's got to be big.

as far as fitting gt6 pistons, they are almost exactly .040 over
stock spitfire pistons.  in fact, the competion manual for early
spits recomends fitting gt6 pistons since they are .040 over
stock spitfire size.
