I have had very good luck with Loctite's rust neutralizer. Just remove the loose rust, paint with this stuff, let dry, and paint right over it (this stuff doubles as a primer.) I believe it may be marketed under the Permatex name (same company.) Someone at work here had a utility trailer that was very rusted, they used this stuff and painted with Rustoleum after. This trailer has sat outside in the rain for the last 10 years without showing any signs of rusting. JMTC Glenn Bowley |
