The CEI Module on my '80 spit packed up a coupla weeks ago--not wanting
to spend the $$ to replace it, I took it apart, and found that the unit
consisted of a GM HEI module, a diode, and a capacitor. I replaced the
module ($20), and it now works...The question is: Should I replace the
Capacitor too? I assume that there might be some age related
deterioration, but how would one know? And, what value would a cap for
this unit be (there are no markings on it)....And, finally, whats a
diode doing in here? Looks like it could be a zener....is it power
regulation? Any thoughts/comments appreciated.
