I did that in the UK 5 years ago, took a week of work and just drove
wherever the road went. The main advantage in this country is that you're
never too far from anywhere though I headed to the west country and there's
some lovely quiet roads there. I guess I must be an optimist 'cos I had no
mobile phone and I'm not very good at packing light so once I'd filled the
boot with enough to keep me going for a month (!) all I had room for in the
way of spares was the spare tyre, my Haynes manual and a couple of spanners.
I guess someone was looking out for me 'cos I had a great week staying in
B&Bs and pubs and my baby behaved perfectly.
Obviously I can't offer advice on your neck of the woods but I'm sure if
you're reasonably confident of your car, have a mobile and some sort of
recovery insurance (just in case) it should all go well. I see you've had a
few offers of assistance from fellow listers, Triumph owners seem to be a
special breed, I had to call on some help from a fellow enthusiast on a trip
last year & he was really helpful.
