Ken,
Just pump some gear oil in, and watch the grease come squirting out.
Once you see gear oil coming out and no grease, it's done! I wouldn't
leave it like this, though - the gear oil is able to move around inside
the trunnions, and this is what keeps them lubricated - grease won't
work at all.
