I still have the original plaque on my '79. In fact the sheet of protective
plastic is still covering it too! It has some tarnish on it from the "harsh
east coast Florida salt air". The dates on it (according to my 12 year old
son whom I called to confirm it), are: '64, '68, '69, '70, '71, '72, and
'73, all in a single row.

There must be someone out there with a '79 or '80 US model
who still has a plaque.
..correct me if I'm wrong but the second row of dates
ran from 74 to 78 minus the two years that Triumph entered the
TR7 in place of the Spit. (and lost)
I purchased one of the last 7 '80 Spits sold east of the Mississippi
in April of 1981.
The plaque, I know,...is floating around here somewhere, as it was removed
from the dash when the car was rolled in Oct of '82 while racing.
I'll have to did around.
