All this talk about the reliability of Spitfires and compression tests gave
me something else to worry about. So I ran down to the parts store and
bought a compression tester ( a first time user).
Results of first run:
Cylinder #1 170 PSI
Cylinder #2 0 to 20 PSI
Cylinder #3 165 PSI
Cylinder #4 175 PSI
Second run:
Cylinder #1 175 PSI
Cylinder #2 170 PSI
Cylinder #3 170 PSI
Cylinder #4 180 PSI
I'm guessing either a mistake by the operator or a stuck valve. Hmm. Three
years ago, when I bought the first Spit, I had never even changed the oil on
a car (well, I did once, but messed up, big time). Now I can't operate a
compression tester consistently. So I am making progress :) Thank goodness
for this group.
Thanks,
Tom
