On my various round tail Spits, I've had good luck masking off the shiny
chrome part, and cleaning the contacts of the lamp housings, as well as the
bullet ends, in the bead blaster.  The most difficult part of the job is
getting the assemblies off the car without breaking the solidly rusted
mounting screws.
