Mike,
First, the Spitfire of the RAF (Royal Air Force) has a wing, your car has a
spoiler or lip.
Second, it sound like your bolt hole is well lubed, so try finding a tap that
matches your screw and rethread the welded nut. Be careful with the inner nut
that is part of the spoiler.
Third, get new screws, they are worth the pocket change.
Forth, now that the spoiler is back on, the next time you change the oil drop
a 8 inch long piece of 2x4 (or 2x6) in front of your ramp. That way when you
drive up to the ramps the spoiler will be high enough to clear the ramps. The
inch and half the board gives you is all you need for clearance.
Last but not least, Overdrive, (you did not think I was going to say fifth
did you?) If you opt not to run the spoiler, just keep an eye on the temp
gauge. You should be fine, unless you drive like my wife and then the car is
not the only thing Overheating!
Good luck,
Jay
