Crank Nut

Any ideas on the best way to remove the rather large (1 3/4" maybe) nut on
the end the the crankshaft of my '72 ?? Is it 1 3/4", do they make a socket
to fit a 1/2" drive or do you have to go to 3/4" ??

Not even going to ask why it's so large, must be to handle all the hp and
torque !! <VBG>
