I think what you are seeing is not a problem. Those indentions in the top
of the frame on each side are there to give the half shafts more room to
move up and down vertically with the suspension travel. If you jack up the
rear (on the frame, or as I usually do, a single jack point on the diff
lifts both sides) you'll see that the half shafts will drop down in those
indentions.
