Firstly, are you sure it's the diff??? recently I was getting a really
loud grumble from the rear end(no crude comments please!! :-)), which I
assumed was the diff, so to make sure I jacked it up, put it on stands, and
then started it up and put it in 3rd, the noise was still there but I still
couldn't confirm exactly where it was coming from, so I switched it off,
disconnected the r/h driveshaft, pulled it away from the flange, and
started it up again!! the noise had gone, so one new(ok s/h) driveshaft
later and a rebuilt wheel bearing a UJ and all things seems OK.
