Firewall sealing

What should I use to plug the holes in the firewall.  I'm still 
getting some major heat seaping in especially around the stearing 
column.  Most of the rubber grommits are disentigrating so I need 
something (maybe RTV gasket maker?) to seal them up before it gets 
too hot outside.
