Kris, two possibilities. The first possibility is a vacuum leak. Has a vacuum
hose broken, cracked or fallen off (check the line going to the distributor).
This condition will cause the engine to run lean at idle which makes the engine
idle poorly. a cursory look at all the brass hose fittings may lead you to
finding a leak quickly.
The second possibility may be the ignition. I the timing set correctly? are the
points worn and need replacement?
