I am starting a body off restore on my '77 Spitfire 1500 and have gotten to
the point where I am ready to take the body off, but it doesn't seem to want
to come off. I thought I had all the bolts out, but I guess I don't, because
I can lift the car clean off the ground if I try to lift the rear, and the
frame still seems pretty firmly attached. Here are the bolts that I have
taken out so far:
Bumper Brace Brackets (2 each side)
Muffler Mounts (2)
Top of Rear suspension towers
Removed the bolt holding the radius arm to the bracket
on the rear of the body. Bracket is still attached to the car.
Seat belt mounting bolts
2 bolts each side of transmission tunnel
1 in the outside corner of each footwell
1 on the front of the bulkhead.
Like I said, I though I had them all, but something seems to be hanging
it up around the rear suspension. If I try to lift the front, I can see the
body separate from the frame a bit, but not the back. I appreciate any help
anyone can give me.
